^ The spots on the pudu above will fade as it becomes older
The Pudu is the smallest member of the deer family and quite possibly the most adorable thing known to man. Just look at its little face!!!
There are two kinds of Pudu: northern and southern. The southern pudu is the larger of the two. They usually live in lower altitudes and are the much more common of the two types. The northern pudu is smaller by nearly 3 inches at the shoulder. These pudu live much higher then their southern counter parts and because of that much less is known about them. Unlike most deer pudus live in small burrows, usually under trees or fallen logs. This is because they are such a huge target for predators in the area. They venture out of their burrows to eat herbs, flowers, grasses, shrubs, and even small trees that happen to be growing near by. A pudu will sometimes snap a tree using its hind legs to either eat the leaves that were at the top of the tree or use it as a ramp to reach new heights.
